Hello listeners, Join us this week as we continue our month of comedy oscars, with the 1984 classic buddy cop film Beverly Hills Cop. We go down the list of what makes this such an amazing film, and…
So what is your history with this movie, brother?
So I can remember continuously seeing this, Evan, in the local video store that my father used to take me to every Friday night after school and would never get it.
But there was one night it came on the television.
It might even actually have been the first ever time it was getting shown on TV over here, the network premiere.
And my dad taped it for me and obviously watched it and loved it.
But there was a lot of shit that went over my head being just a wee lad.
I didn't watch it for years.
And then when I was 17 years old, buying the first two films on VHS one day and coming back and putting this on.
I'm being blown away at how fucking funny some of it is to the point where I was running about pretending I was Inspector Todd.
I used to come into my house and my parents weren't there if my brother was in and go, is there a fucking foley in here? And like, fucking, we used to just shout that to each other all the fucking time.
And especially the scene where he attends at the country club and pretends to be Victor Maitland's gay lover.
I thought that was the funniest fucking thing I had ever seen in all my life when I was 17 years old.
But yeah, I've been a fan of it ever since, really.
When he goes into that area and, you know, what does he say? Is it hepatitis 10 something? Hepatitis 10 something.
I got the Herpiciplex 10, okay? And I just think you just need to tell Victor,
but...
And as soon as dude is like, I don't think that that's something I should tell him.
I think that's something you should tell him.
What I thought was funny about that was...
So when when he throws Jonathan Banks over that fucking table, you can see that that is the biggest and worst stunt double of all.
And, you know, when we were talking, when we were watching it last night, I told Tiffany, I said, do you know who Jonathan Banks is? And she said, I don't really recall.
And I said, think of.
