Oct 9, 2026 · 1 hr · 23 segments
What do you do when the church, workplace, organization, or community you once called home no longer reflects your values? How do you know when it's time to stop fighting for a seat at someone else's…
So a lot of people, why this episode right now? Because what I'm sensing and what I've seen for several years now is that a lot of people are leaving institutions, organizations, in other words, tables that they once sat at.
And when you have people who are leaving those communities, leaving those tables, it's for things like sexual abuse and their cover-ups.
It's for things like narcissism and egotistical leaders who are abusing their power.
It's for a lack of concern for their immigrant neighbors or broader justice issues.

We are living in a social and political climate such that people have to declare where they stand.
I mean, you look around, it's not a mystery where churches, institutions, organizations stand on the issues that matter.
Whether that's the environment, immigration, racial justice, economics, politics, you name it.
Because we have such polarizing figures in leadership right now that you have to declare yourself.
And so a lot of times an institution is going to do whatever it can to protect itself.
and preserve its operations rather than the individuals inside it that make those operations possible.
So we've seen this with the rollback of commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion from major corporations.
The Target Corporation, You know, the superstores, they've become a target of boycotts by a lot of people in the black community because Target is headquartered in Minneapolis, where George Floyd was killed in 2020.
They made all these grand promises for racial justice and that they were one of the first to retreat on them.
