2007?
Mid-2000s, right? We were in high school-ish.
Okay.
My wife watches a few of these horror movies with me, but the one thing that actually terrifies her more than ghosts or demons or slashers is a natural disaster or being separated from her family because she's got kids now, right? And that's a real-world fear.
And so this movie starts off with an ominous mist, rolls through this New England town, Stephen King and then this man is like just out going grocery shopping with his son and the mist just immediately separates you like the people that are in this grocery store are just that's our main characters and we cannot go out because this wall of mist and fear shrouds you from everything else and so it's like that's pretty terrifying for her so she did not join me in this one it is good this is the first time I've watched The Mist Tristan
It's kind of hard to believe because it's horror, but I guess it's more sci-fi horror.
It doesn't fit everyone's horror list for Halloween.
I think I've mentioned it before.
When I was in high school, I was too busy being a snob about wanting to go back and watch 70s and 80s slashers or what I considered to be good horror than just to enjoy the era that I was in.
We were getting a bunch of crappy remakes, that's for sure, but there were good horror movies being made in this era as well, and The Mist, I think, is one of them.
Yeah, I mean, I looked at the IMDb ratings and whatnot.
Generally liked.
It doesn't sound like a bad movie.
Good enough.
But those were low enough that I was getting spooked off of it at the time.
I was like, ah, that's lowbrow.
But it's enjoyable.
I don't really recognize much of the cast other than Toby Jones, who we see in Avengers and things later on.
Yes.
For those video game lovers, Sam Witwer, who played Starkiller in Force Awakens and is like a big Star Wars guy.
He's in The Voice for Darth Maul.
Yeah, he's one of the military guys.
