Can you recall one of the fascinating or surprising things you first learned about immunology in the context of the brain?

I actually learned that there are so many cells that people don't know about and those cells, they also have like important roles, right? But as much as the cells are important and they are, they are always there to protect the brain, they can also be bad.

So for example, like TBM, we have microglial cells, right? Which are known as the first responders to injury or infection.

But I mean, science is something that's always evolving and we learn as time goes on.

So I think from what you said about the microglia and the roles they could play in brain diseases or brain-related pathologies, it's just that when we think about immune systems, usually like the good guys versus the bad guys, how the good guys are trying to just reduce the number of bad guys and kill the bad guys.

But your work is making us see that good guys can also turn bad guys sometimes, right? Yes.

Yeah, take us through some of the earlier projects you did in the context of the brain and the immune system.
