Yesterday was one of the most disappointing football games for the Indianapolis Colts I've ever watched.
You had a second-year defensive coordinator, veteran talent on the defense, and young upstarts on the defense, a head coach who has his quarterback, and Bauer didn't trade back.
And the end result was eight straight losses spanning two seasons.
At some point, it stops being about luck.
It stops being about we're close.
This is what it is.
This isn't a very good football team.
And yesterday it was on full display.
You know, prior to week one, it's very fun to be optimistic.
And you and I were extremely optimistic.
And I prefer to be optimistic now.
particularly in preseason training camp up to week one, because everything's just a little bit of a fantasy.
We don't know what's really going to happen on the field.
We don't know how this team's going to gel come week one when you get on that 50-yard line and you're ready to kick that first kickoff or receive the first kickoff.
You just have no idea what's going to go on.
So to me, it's easy to be optimistic.
It's easy to try to talk yourself into why your team is going to be good.
And we've mentioned it several times over these last podcasts that, you know, most teams are very optimistic.

You've already mentioned it.
