Whats up everyone - sorry for the couple of weeks off, we're here again to chat about riffs and music - we're wrapping up our deep dive into 2006 by talking about 3 absolutely ESSENTIAL albums in the…
This album and this band, I mean, we've talked about this band quite a bit in the past, but...
I'm never going to stop screaming from the rooftops how important this band are and how massively overlooked they are in the world of heavy music.
And I know that in 2006, at the time this came out, I was a young Essex boy.
I was wearing my hat on the back of my head, driving a Vauxhall Nova.
I never had a Vauxhall Nova, to be fair.
But...
This was one of the bands that kind of bonded my friendship group.
It was almost like a requirement to be friends with us.
I don't know if you guys were as passionate about them as we were.
yeah mate they were they were a big big thing for it wasn't as wide but like myself craig jace we all we all definitely dug the fuck out of it like i wouldn't say that many of them held on to it as much as i did and yeah i knew always know like or like always miles and stuff were really into it at college like they were they were banging to it so like yeah it was they were definitely a big band i feel like um they were they really put on the seat like put on everyone's radar in like my space era because of the seduction right like absolutely yeah like that was well i am
hollywood as an album was definitely like a phenomenon for me and my friends but you're right it was this i remember being at my mate martin's house shout out martin And he, I mean, he was like, his parents were well rich, right? And he used to go on holiday to America every year.
And he'd come back with a big pile of CDs that he bought from like America record shops and be like, oh, look at all this new music.
And you're like, oh my God, I've never heard of any of this shit.
Like, it was crazy.
And he would just go in the shops and ask the people who worked there, what should I buy? And he'd come back with all of this stuff.
And we were all, oh, my God, what is this? And he had, like, he's one of the first people to have the internet out of my friends.
And he would go around his house and dial up, like, Netscape Navigator.
And it's like, you know, the one with the puppet, the puppets doing, doing, doing the Romeo and Juliet, the puppets.
And I was like, Oh my God, what is this? This is one of the fucking coolest things I've ever heard.
And just everything about it was just, I mean, for want of a better, better word, seductive.
I was just drawn in by this band, this band's vibe, this band's sound, their attitude.
