Taking Back Sunday

So I have, I have tickets to see Weezer.

I have tickets to see Taking Back Sunday.

I have, oh, there's so much going on.

There's so many exciting shows happening.

doing Louder Than Life Fest, which is in Louisville, Kentucky.

We play with MyChem, A Day to Remember, TBS.

Not on their stage, but it's cool that we get to play.

Yeah.

Uh, my list is Jimmy Eat World, Clarity; Origami Angel, Somewhere City; Dashboard Confessional, Places You've Come To Fear The Most; The Hotelier, Home Like No Place Is There; Taking Back Sunday, Tell All Your Friends; The Get Up Kids, Something Right Home About; Bright Eyes, I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning, which I was like unsure if that counted really, but I'm like, fuck it.

Like, there's gonna be enough contributions that I'm not gonna break it or whatever.

Yeah.

It's called It's Giving, and it's hosted by me, Ingella Travers-Hayward.

This week, it's giving Adam Lazara, the lead singer of the band Taking Back Sunday, who, you know, they formed all the way back in 1999.

So it's so impressive that they're still constantly touring, releasing music, and still just remaining this really important band to a lot of people out there.

But beyond that longevity, you know, Adam and the band have just consistently turned their platform into this force for good.

Adam, thank you so much for doing this.

This podcast, it's all about social justice and how it intersects with music.

It leads me directly into you guys because Taking Back Sunday has been around since 99.

You've been around for a minute.

And Copeland, "When You Thought You'd Never Stand Out," which by the end is a, a couple instances of Aaron singing and then there's a, a guest vocalist on that track.

And then we gotta talk about Taking Back Sunday.

Uh, the-

Oh, yeah.

But I, I, I sort of, like, want to argue that bands could bring this back a little bit more.

Oh, yeah.

But I, so I wanna ask you about Taking Back Sunday 'cause their album was blowing up right, 2000, 2002, like sort of that range, so right when you guys were kind of, again, forming this sound.

How conscious were you of them as a band? Were there other bands that were sort of more highlighted in your mind? Is that where you got this sort of dueling vocal thing or did it come organically because you and Toby were vocalists and-

And yeah, we became really close friends, and we snowboarded all the time.

And that's the guy who got me to sing the duet from Taking Back Sunday, Cute Without the E.

So when I broke my wrist snowboarding with him, We were hanging out.

We were bummed, but he was hanging out with me, going through the pain.
