Mastodon

I saw this little girl watching Terror.

She had a Mastodon shirt.

She was holding up a Mastodon saying how obsessed she was with the band.

They were having the time of their life.

This was mostly there were a lot of decent amount of kids there, you know, like family.

I feel like I'm just, bro, I just know the answer.

Mastodon, Blood and Thunder.

No man of the flesh

could ever stop me.

I loaded up some Yarg.

I played some of the Mastodon album on drums.

Very fun.

A lot of cool picks in there.

Silver

Sun Pickups, Mastodon.

Mm-hmm.

Yeah.

I think there's maybe a book in you about

this.

I should try to get kicked off of Mastodon or...

Call it exit.

You know, there's a band now called Ghost that kind of draws on the horror imagery.

Also, there's a great, great band from the last like 20 years called Mastodon, heavy metal band that I like a lot.

They have a song called Halloween on their Once More Around the Sun album.

And yeah, I don't know if you ever heard that one.

No, no, but the, um, I wanted to read you lyrics, lyrics from the beginning of that song.

This is Halloween by Mastodon.

The lyrics start with orange and black.

Take me back to Halloween.

Brilliant.

And then the second part of the show, we have the founding member and brilliant, brilliant musician, Troy Sanders of Mastodon and, of course, other supergroups.

I think he's still touring with Thin Lizzy at the moment as their bass player.

Not that long after, sadly, Brett Hines passed, that we interviewed him.

No, six, seven months, probably, maybe a bit longer.

Anyway, it was about their latest album, and I have always loved Mastodon and their music.

So to sort of be asked to interview him about the upcoming album.

In fact, I did play a couple of tracks from the latest album only recently, I think, in one of the episodes I did.

I saw them twice.

They were with traveling with Mastodon a few years ago.

And I saw that, but at BMO, they had all the, the gravitas of, of a huge, huge, huge crowd because you know, that, that, that stadium holds like 80,000 people, you know, so it was enormous.

And, um, I just, uh, I have endless love for their band.

Yeah.

I heard stranded.

It was one of those cases where Spotify or Apple music, I don't remember which one it was like, well, if you like this, I think I was listening to Mastodon and it says, if you like this, you might like this.

And I heard stranded and I'll never forget where I was.
