I've been very critical of the Trump administration's policies lately, but one of the things that Trump has done right is telling Anthropic to go pound sand when Anthropic is begging for government regulation to essentially outlaw his competition because open source AI is becoming, you know, really, really powerful and capable.

So Anthropic, which has become desperate for, you know, some kind of, uh, regulatory moat to protect it from competition, is running around and screaming about how dangerous their product is, and thus they need government regulation.

And frankly, Trump and Scott Bessent and others in the Trump administration have told Anthropic what I believe to be the correct answer, which is, "Hey, if, if you think your products are dangerous, why don't you slow down? You slow down.

You know, you already have liability for your products.

You're a corporation.

If your product causes harm or damage, then that's on you.

It's not the government's role to come in and offer you some kind of immunity or to protect you from competition." In addition, the narrative on AI from the White House has been that we have to be aggressive in moving full speed ahead because we're trying to compete with China, and Trump says that America has the dominant position in AI right now.

That's actually eroding.

You could argue that up until now, but I think right now it's clear that China is neck and neck with the United States.

So, uh, Trump wants the US to, quote, "Win the AI race." And so do I, by the way.

I, I want America to win the AI race, and I'm wondering, where are the US open source models? You know, how come we don't have an American Qwen? Yeah.

Why is that? You know, Qwen is a model from Alibaba, and just as a trivia matter, do you know where the name Qwen comes from? [chuckles] It's, it's kind of interesting.

If you know Chinese, you, you might know this, but in Chinese, the word for a question is wen.

And to, uh, well, really, wenti is the, is the word for it.

And you could ask somebody like, "I wanna ask you a question," or, "I have a question for you." oil youge wenti.

That, that means I, I have a question.

So Qwen really is short for question.

Q is question in English, and wen is question in Chinese.

So that's, that's where that name came from, in case you're curious.

[chuckles] Very interesting, and almost all AI models have difficulty, uh, transcribing that out of audio.

But in any case, Qwen has been an outstanding model.

Frankly, it's the workhorse of my own data center, the newer Qwen three point eight twenty-seven B. It's a workhorse.

It's a revolutionary model.
