I've been very critical of the Trump administration's policies lately, but one of the things that Trump has done right is telling Anthropic to go pound sand when Anthropic is begging for government regulation to essentially outlaw his competition because open source AI is becoming, you know, really, really powerful and capable.

So Anthropic, which has become desperate for, you know, some kind of, uh, regulatory moat to protect it from competition, is running around and screaming about how dangerous their product is, and thus they need government regulation.

And frankly, Trump and Scott Bessent and others in the Trump administration have told Anthropic what I believe to be the correct answer, which is, "Hey, if, if you think your products are dangerous, why don't you slow down? You slow down.

And they don't-- The original promise that, oh, we're gonna build the world's best AI, and it's gonna be so valuable, and everybody's gonna pay us all this money to use it, that kind of fell apart.

Well, actually, it, it collapsed due to China So China's open source models are now neck and neck with, or, or, or very, very close, ninety-eight to ninety-nine percent of the capability of something like Anthropic, you know, Fable 5.

And yet you can use open source AI for free if you can afford to purchase the hardware, which admittedly is becoming more and more expensive right now.

And but that's why it's becoming more expensive, because everybody is buying up all that hardware, realizing that once we pay for the hardware, we can run these open source AI models locally, and we don't have to pay any subscription fees or token fees.

We talked about headless software and why companies are building software for AI agents and not humans, and well, what that means.

So today, in volume twenty-four of the Start Here series, we're going over open source AI 101.

So here's the reality.

Closed AI used to be the de facto, right? And I, I mean, honestly, there was really never even much of a discussion about open source AI in the enterprise maybe until, uh, twenty twenty-five, at least not serious enterprise companies.

Yes, you should do that, but don't send the neurosurgeon to, you know, triage a, a basic thing happening in the waiting room.

Send the right model at the right time for the right purpose.

There's an interesting piece in the New York Times also about corporate America getting hooked on open source AI.

And they are saying they're going to release this new model.

It's a bigger thing.

Hugging Face was acquired by NVIDIA yesterday for $13 billion.

And Hugging Face is the repository of open source AI models as well as closed source ones.

Who's a prominent Bolin investor in this stuff? Yeah, a prominent investor in that space.

Gavin has argued that, or previously argued, I would say as recently, six, seven, eight months ago, Open source AI is not going anywhere.

It's not going to be a big deal.

Anthropic and open AI are way so far ahead of them.

Just today, maybe yesterday, he's now sort of saying, seeing the recent statistics in open source AI usage, the Chinese models, the US open models, etc.

He's now arguing...

Now, I've looked repeatedly and I can't find hard statistics on this, but law, medicine, military, finance is another big one.

These are the biggest consumers of open source AI.

And this is something that kind of gets swept under the rug.

And it boils my blood a little bit when I hear Anthropic and Dario Amadei say, oh, open source is intrinsically more dangerous and it needs to be locked down and you can't do anything safe with it.

They don't pay me anything, of course, but they just invited me on to talk about AI.

They're asking some questions about AI, and I'm a big advocate of open source AI.

And just out of the blue, you know, last minute, they just invited me and, um, I was able to make it work.

So I was on RT a few hours ago, and they were asking me about the announcement of OpenAI, where they're saying that they're gonna hold off on training their models for two weeks because something scary happened.

Your problem isn't infectious disease.

Your problem is that you're retarded, so...

And there's no vaccine for that unfortunately So anyway, I have a special report for you entitled, uh, Western Governments Panic Over Inability to Control, Censor, or Surveil Open Source AI Run Locally.
