Where Do My Taxes Go? Tyler Davey Can Help You Understand Your City’s Budget

A number of executive orders were signed

related to quantum.

Hold on a second.

The Trump administration uses executive orders? This is news to me.

More subtle irony from Adam.

That's where you put the laugh track, right there, right at that pregnant pause.

Before we launch into the description of what the executive orders do, give our listeners a description of what quantum containing is.

Oh

boy,

now

I'm nervous.

Now

I'm on the spot.

Okay.

I'm kidding.

You don't need to do that.

Oh, I got my explanation already.

Don't embarrass yourself.

Basically, one of them launches a national effort to build a quantum computer powerful enough for scientific discovery.

And the other accelerates the federal migration to post-quantum cryptography.

Yes.

And we should stop while we're at it.

The only reason I know a little bit about number two is because I was at an event where friend of GovNavigator's Dan Pomeroy, my friend from GSA, spoke about that exact topic.

And what I learned basically is cryptography, the way in which we send information where no one else can see what it is, cannot be broken by conventional computers.

But many people, and this is still theoretical, are fairly confident that quantum computers will easily be able to break any cryptography that we have right now.
