I read a good article in GovExec, I think maybe Shawn Newhouse wrote it, where he purposely interviewed people who were either very young or were not alive on 9/11, and how it still had an impact on them to choose careers in public service.

One at the VA, one in the military, and one in counterintelligence spy work, and he also was, like, three on 9/11.

So I like that perspective of even if you weren't around when it happened, it has had a seismic impact on the United States and our culture, and certainly lots of things to read and reflect on are still available now.

But walk me through why the number bothers you.

GovExec reported funding was set to lapse September 30th, and the House acted Tuesday, almost a month early.

That's Congress actually finishing something on time.

Sure, if finishing means moving the fight past an election instead of having it.

The man who called this vote sounded pretty confident about it, didn't he?

Confident is one word for it.

So what exactly did he tell reporters he was avoiding? [upbeat music] Building on that, Johnson stood at the podium Tuesday morning and told reporters Congress is going to avoid the threat of a shutdown, per GovExec.
