Ep. 882 - The Furious

I, of course, need to mention, guys, uh, an on-running, ongoing segment, uh, on the podcast, which is everyone's summer movie wager is in complete shambles- [laughs] ... because this last weekend, Universal and Illumination's Minions and Monsters opened to $61.4 million, the lowest beginning ever for any movie in the Despicable Me and Minions franchise.

It's finally happening.

It's just not advantageous to us, but finally it's happening.

But also, it's funny because this is apparently a good one? Well, we'll discuss that momentarily.

Like, it, it aspires to be good.

We'll discuss that momentarily, but I did just wanna mention, like, this is probably gonna struggle to get to $150 million, which is, like, uh, way lower.

That amount is way lower than what we all thought it would make, uh, when we made our summer movie wagers.

So-

Up is down, left is right, even the Minions can't make money.

What is happening?

Yeah, I, I mean, I mean, uh, me and Peter Sciretta both put Minions and Monsters at number three.

Uh, BJ, Devendra, and Jermaine put Minions and Monsters at number four.

Jeff, in probably the best move he ever has ever made on a summer movie wager- [laughs] ... put it at number five.

But, uh-

That's way too high still

I, I think, I, uh, my guess is that it will not come even close to number five.

That's my guess.

We'll see.

Remember how we all predicted that the new Minions movie wasn't gonna do as well as that movie based on the YouTube thing?
