Facing Family Conflict After My Grandchild’s Injury

Um, I, I have, uh, 10 grandchildren, the oldest being 11, and I always, for their birthdays, I take them out solo trips, individual, to do something they wanna do special on their birthday.

Either bowling, children's museum, library, or spe- and a special lunch.

And so one of my grandchildren, he's eight years old, he wanted to go to a trampoline park, and I had never been before, so I called his mom and asked her if I could take him there, 'cause she has taken, um... she has four children, and she has gone there before and taken him, and she said yes.

So we were there not even five minutes, and he twisted his ankle.

So I had the, uh, manager give me some ice.

I- we put him in the car.

I called his mom, and I said, "You know, he twisted his ankle, and so now we're, you know, heading home." And so she said, "Okay." So a week goes by, and I'm thinking he, he's better now, so I said, "Okay, let's go to the movies," you know? Can't get hurt going to the movies.

So I text his mom, and I, [laughs] I'm hoping.

And he is the most active little kid out of the 10.

He's the one that always gets into stuff.

So anyway, so I, so I text her.

I said, "How about going to movies?" I do not hear back from her.

And then I hear back, um, that afternoon.

I get a text from my son saying, "No more solo dates with the kids.

The kids need more supervision than most people can provide or are willing to provide, and now only group activities with his wife from here on out with the kids." And, and then she sent me a text too, like, I don't know, 20 minutes later saying basically the same thing.

She thought it over, and no more group activities with the kids.

Tell me a little bit more about your son.

Uh, he is our youngest.

We have, um, three children.
