Like me, she began her career as a journalist, but eventually joined Javier Solana, first in his role as NATO Secretary General and then as the first foreign policy chief for the European Union.

She later became Under Secretary General of the United Nations for communications.

And after that, she held several positions in the Spanish government under Prime Minister, or as they call him over there, President Pedro Sanchez, including as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, which is essentially the Spanish Deputy Foreign Minister.
