Aman HambletonGuestJesseHostthis chess bra like how did it come into being right it was started 2017 as a stream streaming channel and then that sort of moved to youtube and then the approach was like teaching and coaching as well this building habit series like can you tell us a bit about the story of chess bra now it's almost 400 000 subs by the way i mean just incredible congratulations tell us a bit about the chess bra story please aman

It's something that I could probably pick any moment and start from there, but I'll just say Eric and I were familiar with one another through youth chess in Canada, a very small subset of players that And so we would just find each other at national youth events.

And so we became familiar with one another, but certainly not very, very close, just kids.

And then I think later as we were in university and in school, We just connected online and we had the same maybe bad habits, just too much bullet chess, too much online chess.

And actually in probably like 2010, 2011, we were in school together and we at that point streamed our screens to one another, like livestream.com.

So this was a way to pretty much just watch each other play chess and hang out.

And yeah, That probably made us initially comfortable with the concept of streaming is that we had been doing it since then.
It's an incredible story.
I mean, I always imagine myself, you know, just to calm myself down when I'm recording a YouTube video, let's say.
I just imagine there's one student of mine, which I very much like, you know, they're just listening to me.
It's like giving one-on-one lesson.
I'm just talking to him, you know, instead of like it can be 5,000 people in the end.
But that's actually nice framing also to take the pressure away.
