This is a fun and very selfish conversation we're going to have with the Freddie Jones band.

I know you're probably thinking, what is Freddie Jones band and are they a country band? Not exactly.

Back in the early 90s, late 80s, they were part of that huge group of upstart alternative rock jam bands like Big Head Todd and the Monsters and Dave Matthews Band and the Samples and Colonel Bruce Hampton and the Aquarium Rescue Unit.

Born and raised in Chicago, that's where they formed, but they recorded their very first album and their very biggest hit in a daydream right here in Music City when they were signed to Capricorn Records.

I listened to a radio station called Radio Lightning, which is the best alternative rock station on the planet.

And the first day I heard in a daydream, my life was changed and I was a Freddie Jones band fan forever.

So when a friend of mine named Rich Ross, uh, revealed that not only did he play bass for my other favorite band called The Samples, he also plays bass and is the band leader for the Freddie Jones band right now.

And Marty Lloyd, who lives in Los Angeles, came to Nashville, and I was not going to pass up the opportunity.

And also, Freddie Jones Band, if you don't know what happened just a couple of weeks ago, their song, In a Daydream, went up on the Artemis II rocket around the moon and back.

It woke up the astronauts one morning as a request from lead astronaut Reed, who's a big Freddie Jones band fan.
pinching myself.
