What else happens in October? Of course, it is Oktoberfest.

And I'm bringing this up because how many times have you heard the phrase a wiener schnitzel or even thought of schnitzel?

Nobody even knows what a wiener schnitzel is.

Exactly.

That's why most people think of

a little dog as a wiener schnitzel.

And I don't even know if that's right.

Is schnitzel food?

Yes, yes.

And as somebody who has gone over the pond and gone to Munich, Germany, attended Oktoberfest, did all the great stuff, I thought I would set the record straight.

Schnitzel, for those of you that did not know, is actually a thin, tender slice of meat, and it's pounded flat.

You know, just think about pounded flat, kind of like a country fried steak.

You coat it in breadcrumbs and fry it until it's crispy and golden.

So, Tigger, you would love this.

That sounds actually really good.

But the term Wienerschnitzel, which is what I found interesting, because when I went over there, if you're not familiar with Germany, the Bavarian region of Germany is right on the border of Austria.

And so actually Wienerschnitzel is an Austrian, excuse me, Austrian classic that must be made with veal by law.

So veal is the meat that is pounded flat?

Yes.

And then coated

in breadcrumbs?

Yes.

Okay.

Yes.

So if you have the traditional wiener schnitzel, really, like I said, it's made from veal and pounded flat and breaded and fried.
