The 2026 Midterms: A Battle for the Senate and Both Parties’ Futures

All right.

So the fall.

I saw a Cook political forecast yesterday that said the question for Republicans is whether November is going to be bad, horrible, or devastating.

Something along those lines.

Bad or worse.

Yeah.

I mean, it's going to be bad.

Obviously, everyone's base case is that the Republicans lose the House and the House flips.

Mark, as you and I have talked about ad nauseum, your caucus is fairly ungovernable, but that's for a different day.

Well, they proved it again this week with two defectors saving the Speaker's bill to

keep the government open.

So,

ungovernable

before... newcomers arrive so well this is going to be like on the big stuff the democrats assuming the house flips assuming hakeem jeffries is the speaker he's going to need republican help to govern because there's no way you're going to be able to hold the democratic caucus together.

There's too much.

There's, there's just too much on the extremes.

It's my view.

Well, it

depends of course on the, whether the Democrats are the majority.

I think we will be.

But it depends on how big the majority is.

Certainly a majority like the Republicans have had to work with is going to be very challenging

because the caucus is divided.

If

it's a larger majority, then it depends, of course, on who got elected.
