Kevin KrajcirGuestSo what are some tips – If you want to start getting into bird watching, listening, watching, appreciating birds more, what are some tips you would have for people that are kind of getting into this?

Yeah, I would say my biggest one is, you know, these groups that we're talking about that I just mentioned, especially, you know, Arba, shameless plug.

The best way is to start learning from someone who already knows their stuff.

That's how I did it years ago, just tagging along and listening to the people who are identifying the birds and telling you oh it's this one because it has this coloration or these field marks um just learning those things is a great way um of course to connect with people and then to get to know birds through that uh so joining these groups going to if you have local stores like wild birds unlimited you know you can learn from those folks um audubon societies generally uh Even just going online and downloading apps like Merlin is a great way.

Merlin's not perfect, you know, from an identification standpoint, but it's pretty good and it's getting better.

And so using that tool to kind of ease yourself into bird identification is a great way, too.

But, yeah, listening with your own ears and paying attention as it's pointing things out to you is great, too.

And that's one of the types of conservation work that we really promote because, you know, Birds face a lot of threats from pollution to habitat loss, habitat loss being the biggest one.

And habitat loss is so major because we as humans kind of do what we do and tear things up.
