I just wanted to make a comment about Our responsibility as a community to help somebody who's in crisis about 50 years ago, back in the dark ages, when I was at LSU, uh, my roommate, I was out, I was working in Washington, DC, and he called me, uh, and on a Friday he had been approached by somebody at school to say that he had stolen quarters.

out of a coffee, voluntary coffee cup situation, and they told him he was going to meet with the school on Monday.

Between Friday and Monday, he called his girlfriend, he bought a gun, and he killed himself the Sunday before Monday.

And the difference was that after that, LSU would send somebody out personally to explain to that person that what the charges were, that it wasn't going to be the end of the world, that they needed to get some counseling beforehand.

And it's something, once that happens, once they get to that desperate stage, there's not much anybody can do.

And I will never forget the feeling I had because I couldn't help him because I wasn't there and I didn't know.

young rookie shortstop of the Braves comes up.

He is Alvin Dark, the former Louisiana State University star from Lake Charles, Louisiana, with a batting average of .322.

In the past few months, LSU has closed or repurposed multiple cultural centers on campus.

The LGBTQ Plus Center closed entirely, and the African American Cultural Center and Women's Center are grappling with major overhaul.

LSU Reveille senior news reporter Vivian Sarhan joins us now for more.

Vivian, thanks for being here.

Thank you for having me.

So what specific changes have the African American Cultural Center and Women's Center undergone? And do these changes have anything to do with them being moved from being operated by the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX to the Office of Student Affairs?

I wouldn't quite say it's because of the changes to the office.

College football fans have a new reason to celebrate as Mississippi climbs into the top five of the national rankings after a dramatic win.

I do think that if you can afford to sponsor LSU and do all these things, that you don't need a nonprofit tax exemption.

So I think that needs to go away then.

And I think that we really have to go back to the pre-1969 definition of nonprofit hospitals where it's just charity care.

But so I graduated dental school from LSU, Louisiana State University in 2000.

And in 2001, got into doing some orthodontics as a general dentist, of which I never intended to.

No, I would go to, like, even though I went to LSU, I had to take my SATs every year at spring high school.
