Thorin and YamatoCannon on Invictus Gaming's late-career revival with Rookie and TheShy, JDG finishing dead last in the LPL playoffs, and G2 dismantling Karmine Corp in the LEC upper bracket. Huel…
I think, by the way, I think, as usual, I always get summarized the whole thing we're gonna start talking about.
So even though I think this year I've actually been the most reasonable I've ever been, because you have to remember, Rookie didn't literally play until this split.
Even The Shy coming back was to come back with Rookie for sort of one last miracle run.
Even the squad they had, even though if people remember, they actually were sort of like n- like pretty decent in the Demacia Cup at the end of last year, and then in the first split, they showed some form of like maybe they could be decent.
The...
If you look at the roster now, as, as I said in the skit, the obvious problem is when you're in that lower group, when you're not in the...
When you're in the Nirvana group or whatever they call it, the like shitter group, basically, it's hard to ever actually look at that and know if the team's good because unfortunately you are just winning against fucking like teams that we consider like flawed or their roster construction failed.
In fact, some of them were literally in that group because they failed the playing at the last split, and that's why they had to go down and get relegated while the Thunder X and the LGDs of the world went up, and actually some of them have been good, some of them are being irrelevant like EDG.
So I think when you all look at that, to me, it wasn't until this actual playoffs that you could ever really look at IG.
I mean, look, I did think it was obvious they'd make it into this tournament, but when you looked, I did think...
I think I said it on the last episode.
The second that you had those upsets, particularly obviously the TS one, because that was gonna be the first opponent, right? Even though LGD, by the way, the team they have to beat now to actually make it into the top three, even though that team has mad overperformed, they look pretty good this split and actually had like sort of a glob, on paper, the dream is to play LGD and then later on to maybe have to play someone like...
You know, the idea you have to play TS in the first round, there's a world actually for all the gags about TS.
Maybe Tian just turns up and has the series of his fucking life.
That sort of thing happens.
They've beaten a bunch of the best teams in the actual split itself.
That again looks like, oh, come on, you maybe beat TS because they're kind of a bit shit this split.
They've kind of fallen apart at the end and died, haven't they? Actually, Team WE on paper is exactly the sort of team you expect to just beat IG here to go, "Right, it was never real.
They've got a roster that on paper's good, but it's not actually gonna..." They've beaten them as well, by the way, fairly convincingly in that one, I've got to say.
What's crazy is despite what LGD has accomplished this split, I think this is the first time IG might actually be favored in one of these bloody lower bracket matches because due to having come into the play and they didn't get a start in the upper bracket, they're starting the lower.
So actually, I do think they're gonna win this one, and if they win this one, let's be real, they'll be top three this split.
