00:00 Intro / Welcome to Stacking Points 01:35 Viewer Question: Do you keep cards that aren't the best mathematically but make you feel good? (RP2048) We all talk about crunching the numbers and…
It comes from rp2048, who asks, we all talk about crunching the numbers and doing the math.
Do you find it difficult to just stick to the math? Some cards hold nostalgia for us personally or perceived status.
Do you have any cards that aren't the best mathematically, but you keep them anyway because they make you feel good? RJ, I'll throw to you first, because you have been slashing away at your card collection.
I have.
I've culled four cards in the last week.
The Shopper Cash, the Cash Plus, and the Palladium died today.
So I have hacked and slashed.
My green card is a card that I really like.
It is a card that is easy for me to use because it is travel and it is transit and it is dining and it's just an easy card to use for those things and I like it.
I had it.
I got rid of it and I said, you know what? I want this card back.
So I have it back.
I have another card that I get 3% back on travel with.
I could do a 3% category with that and I have occasionally put things on it.
But I really like my green card.
Now, Emix is doing things.
I might go, what is this green card? I have this shiny new Cobalt to play with.
I don't know.
But the green card is one of those cards that it is very hard for me to part with because of the categories it covers and just the flexibility for that for me.
I do math, not in the set per point in the typical way that a lot of people do.
I'm okay with that because I do it the way that I'm comfortable with.
So outside of the green card, I'm not sure my math is that different though, but the green card is one of those notable cards that I've gotten twice simply because I liked having it so much.
