Are today's sports card prices sustainable, or are collectors setting themselves up to relive the painful correction that followed the 2021 boom? Adam from Splendid Sports joins Jeremy Lee and David…
okay well uh adam the other the other topic that i wanted to talk about with you tonight was about your collecting i think this will be interesting for people because And this is something that I learned from David.
Actually, David, why don't you deliver this scenario as far as the changing mindset? Because you have a better understanding of Adam's mindset than I do on this.
Because I'm a stalker of Adam and watch all of his videos, I saw, Adam, that you were about six months ago, you put out a big proclamation
But where was your mindset then? What's changed? And how has the atmosphere changed? Or you changed since that time? Ooh,
good question.
Good.
And you're right.
And you know what? It's okay to change your mind sometimes.
That was a...
There's a reason why I don't really make – I do videos on the SportsCard Clubhouse, but I took a break from my channel because the last couple of years have been a couple of tough years for me.
Some great times, but also some really hard times.
Some days I find myself – not so much anymore, but over the past couple of years, probably on that day too – just you know i just don't i don't know you're on there you're making a video and then after you make the video you're just like i don't know why i said that or i mean yeah i guess it makes sense but it's part of it's like i just went to myself i go you know maybe you should just take a break you don't need to be making videos right now you maybe you're not in the right headspace some of these days and um you know that particular video it really was one card that uh got my attention because at that time I really wasn't watching prices or anything like that and then I just happened to see it was like on an Instagram post it was a picture of a showcase at a card show and a PSA 1089 Upper Deck Griffey had $5,000 on the sticker and I was like what Boy, those are some high prices.
What are they doing there? And then I looked it up and, whoa, it really is selling for $5,000.
And part of it was like I was mad at myself because I had just sold my PSA 10 Upper Deck Griffey a few months before.
I thought I was doing great.
I got $2,300 for it or something like that.
And I made some money on it.
