Ken Griffey Jr.

During my childhood and adolescence growing up, you obviously had guys like Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa, other people.

I mean, Ken Griffey obviously was awesome hitting home runs, but like...

I respect for like the longevity of what Hank Aaron did as a player.

And that was I always looked at him as like one of the best baseball players ever.

No, the other one was you're a baseball guy, and we've talked to you a lot about JSN, and we're running out of words as well, and we're running out of comps and everything else.

But I had a listener yesterday hit me and say, gosh, especially for this market that watched Ken Griffey Jr. in his heyday, in his absolute prime, run everything down, climb walls, make the game look easy, and do it so smooth.

Someone's like, have you guys ever compared JSN to Griffey? You think that's a fun comp?

I love that company.

Holly Roe shared it on Instagram.

Ken Griffey, for some reason, also commented on it.

I don't know if there's a connection there to Nebraska volleyball,

but

he thought it was cool, so...

The more people that know about Nebraska volleyball and that story, the better.

So Tom Brady, Ken Griffey, Mike Tirico.

Yeah.

Once more for the Reds in game number one.

Rose at third base, Griffey in right field, and Morgan at second base.

Foster in left field, Desch at first base, Concepcion at shortstop.

The bottom third again will have Werner catching, Collins in center, and Charmianto fixing.

Rose will, for Smith's play as he did for Richards, the first pitch is a fastball high.

Johnny Betts at first base with Joe Morgan at second, Dave Concepcion at short, and Pete at third.

Foster in left field, Collins in center, Griffey in right, and Werner the first game catcher.

Swing and a foul.

The 3-2 is inside ball four.

You know, this summer, and Griffey is not this kind of player or person.

Forget about Louie getting angry.

This summer, Griffey said, it's ridiculous.

We're down six runs all the time.

We can't keep on coming back.

Number two.

Derek.

He, did he win a Cy Young or came in second and a Cy Young? Yeah.

Actually my Ken Griffey Jr. Autographed rookie card came through Billy Swift.

Cause he's, he got it signed by ken griffey jr in 89 or 90 and then gave it to his high school teammate here in maine who then sold me his collection

oh wow that's a cool story i didn't know that yeah what else was in the collection

oh there was unopened wrestling packs that i sold i paid i think i paid thousand dollars for the whole collection and I kept a bunch of things and then I sold off I don't know I must have I think I broke even with selling other things and kept things like the Griffey rookie which wasn't graded at the time but I got it authenticated

why did I think you got your 89 Griffey autograph at the National

ah that's the upper deck I'm talking about the Donruss oh okay okay okay

See, I watch.

So they all picked their favorite MLB player to dress up as.

So Bishop chose Ken Griffey Jr.

And I kept telling him, you got to play with the hat backwards.

He didn't understand.

He didn't get that part of the assignment.

And then when we took the group photos after, I'm like, turn your hat around.

Like, you're Ken Griffey Jr.

What are you doing? He's like, I don't like it, Dad.

Oh, nice.

And Bishop dressed up as Ken Griffey Jr. Oh, cool.

But I kept telling him he has to put his hat on backwards.

And he didn't understand the assignment.

I'm like, no, no, no, it's not about you.

No, kid, you got to understand.

It's about Ken Griffey Jr.

Do it.

Go ahead, Robbie.

Would the running home, would that be related to baseball, Ken Griffey Jr.?

That would be absolutely spot on.

Oh, Rob, you are so good.

mate.

Rob.

Baseball legend, 630 home runs, 10 golden gloves in centre field, Ken Griffey Jr.?

Oh,
