Ep. 32 - Sandy City Mayor Monica Zoltanski | Speaking Up For Safety

Well, yeah, it's not your first time here.

You've been here several times, and I'm always impressed that you give us the attention you do because it was almost the same day that the hockey club moved to Sandy, their headquarters, and the Jazz moved their practice, announced they were going to build a big practice facility, and then you have Sandy Real, all these great big exciting things happening in Sandy, but you still gave a lot of attention to the Utah Safety Council.

Well,

you're kind of a big deal, so don't be so humble.

You're kind of a big deal.

Our public works and utilities departments are very familiar with your great work and safety.

And Sandy, it's what we're all about in the city.

That's my number one job as mayor is public safety.

So why wouldn't I consider this a big deal? I'm honored to be here.

Well, what's Monday like for a Sandy City's mayor?

It's like coming on a podcast and thinking you're going to do it audio only and you didn't wear a suit and you really didn't have your hair done.

And then you find out you're on video.

But Mondays are always really busy.

It's action packed because it's distilling what's happened over the weekend.

We've been in this monsoon cycle.

So we've had some really serious rainstorms, checking in with my public utilities, my public work staff, police and fire, and getting the updates, covering all the follow-ups that are needed after just the mayor circulating over the weekend, whether it's responding to people who come up to meet in the garden department at Lowe's or at Costco or at church or coming out of my driveway in the morning.

So there's always a lot of follow-up after the weekends, after city events, and then also planning for the week ahead and short-term and long-term planning.

So Mondays are probably my busiest day.

Wow.

Well, then it's really impressive that you're here on a Monday.
