And anecdotally, it's not entirely clear what's going on.

There's a nickname, the Silicon Slopes, Salt Lake, but some of it might be that There's a large Mormon population, and a common thing to do is to go on missionary work and bang on doors and have people tell you no, and you keep going, and you get some resilience and grit.

There's no hard data, and that's what's going on, but that seems kind of plausible to me.

So that's one thing.

You know, you run into and Salt Lake's so small sometimes.

That's why I love Silicon Slopes and everything that we do is just it's a very tight knit community of folks.

And so it's it's kind of a privilege to be able to come up from that space and get to know a lot of people in the area and makes makes the career awesome.

Like, how does that translate to anything but broadcast journalism or news reporter? And I learned that it did, but it wasn't very clear to me.

I ended up going straight from there to Silicon Slopes, the nonprofit that is in, I guess, where are we right now? We're in Salt Lake County, but it's in Utah.

In Lehigh area.

And that was like a really soft landing for me, both on the like emotional grieving, leaving TV side, as well as like transitioning into a new skill set.

It was like one of them was a little more satirical, like business and tech updates.

And the team there is awesome.

I can't say enough good things about the people I worked with at Silicon Slopes, but it was a short stint.

But really interesting to, I'd never done like business or tech news.

But, uh, I did reach out to our contributor, Scott Westman, who we've had on the podcast a couple times.

He works in tech down in Silicon Slopes.

And Cass, he did kind of zero in on this note about China, because Spencer Cox has a s- a specific recommendation related to China.

... like, where Silicon Slopes is just popping out like, "Hey, we got a so-" And it's like, man, these suck, most of them.

Like, the idea was fine, but the functionality's not good, and, um, it just doesn't do what you'd want it to.

The re- where AI should be is not that you go tell it what you need, that it's telling you what's happening.

A little background.

We are currently in the Silicon Slopes of Utah.

That's kind of south of Salt Lake.

And we've been here for quite a while.

I mean, you know, one place I thought you were going to mention was Salt Lake City, which I think is like in the top 10.

And some people call it Silicon Slopes.
