That second time through, I, I did it right.

I gave up my will, I gave up control.

I told my therapist, the BHTs, everybody at the treatment center, "I am done making choices.

I am done making decisions."

Hmm.

"You people tell me where to go-

[laughs]

"...

when to be there, and what to do, and I will do it."

Yeah.

[laughs] See, you know what? I just, I, I wish I had those moments of surrender.

[laughs]

Yeah, it, it, this doesn't have to be all about me.

I'll tell you a very quick story.

The, the very quick story is this.

I did, um, I, when I went into detox and I feel like I had this, this breakdown, this moment of, of desperation rather than clarity.

Now, I know that it was a moment of clarity disguised behind my desperation and my, my anger and whatever it was.

It was still, 'cause Mike and I have talked about this a lot.

Mm-hmm.

There was a desire in there someplace, but I didn't know it at the time.

But all said and done, when I got out to the Keating Center in Cleveland after detox, and I'm told, I was told by the doctor, you know, "You're, if you keep doing what you're doing, you know, you can fucking lie to me all the time.

You know, your three drinks a day, three to five drinks a day, yeah, okay."

[laughs]

"You keep doing, you keep doing that and you're gonna be dead.
