Thorin and Mauisnake are joined by returning guest NER0, senior writer and statistical analyst at HLTV, and the show opens on Astralis: a Danish legend brand that now may not field a single Danish…
So what's ugly right now?
Well, I mean, long before people decided I was a Money C fan, I was actually an Astralis fan.
Yeah, of course, of course.
Yeah, obviously.
So this one is basically about how the new Astralis management have handled the roster since they joined.
Because basically, I think the move to international is something people have talked about on shows for years.
It was inevitable with the way the scene was going.
So that's the first part of the point is that I think going down to one Danish player, maybe zero because they've not been able to extend the contract is a huge red flag for Astralis because in my mind, there's no reason why they wouldn't have at least tried to extend the contracts of the three Danes to keep that core.
And the second part is just this fuckery with the Major because there's just no ways no one didn't know about this rulebook thing where if you play...
If two teams have the same player on their roster, only one of them can go to the Major.
And as soon as Foot basically decided they were only going to play one event with St. Pius, this was a very real risk that if you had Cemetery on your roster, you wouldn't be invited to the Major.
And what they've done is they've gone to stake ranked.
And that, to me, is just a massive failing of management.
And the way they're trying to fix it, they had Neo registered for a game for like an hour earlier until someone tweeted that that wouldn't have actually got them out of this VRS bind thing.
And now Yavi's playing tomorrow, so he's done them a massive favor when... realistically, he's out of contract in like four days.
Also, it's
pure happenstance.
If he hadn't happened to be there, he probably couldn't play the tournament.
