Peter Hays Talks About the Twentieth Annual Spiritist Convention

I'm Roberta Grimes and I am simply delighted that you can be with us today.

My friends, our guest this week is part of a wonderful tradition here at Seek Reality.

We enjoy helping to promote the annual Spiritist event that is held in the United States at the end of the summer each year.

Now many people are familiar with spiritualism, which is a 19th century spirit-based movement that originated and it still is based in England.

But spiritism is somewhat different.

Spiritism also began in the 19th century, but it's based in the 19th century teachings of Allan Kardec.

And it's now robustly, robustly based in Brazil, but it also has become a fairly rapidly growing spiritual movement in the United States as well.

And then the U.S.

Spiritual Federation, Spiritist Federation, rather, is holding, what I think, is it this the 20th annual Spiritist?

This is the 20th anniversary of the U.S. Spiritist Symposium, yes.

Our wonderful, wonderful friends.

Peter Hayes is going to talk about it with us today.

He's going to give us all the rundown details.

And we're delighted, really, to help get the word out.

He works at the Spiritist group.

Love and Light in Newark, New Jersey.

And he's also the current outreach director of the United States Spiritist Federation, USSF.

He's an active participant in the Tri-State Spiritist Federation, or TSSF.

And Peter has published several children's books with his wife, Betty Rosen.

And And Peter has an extensive background in theater as well.

He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing from New York University.

We really enjoy talking about this spiritism, which is distinct from spiritualism.

And you're really a fan of this somewhat different sort of point of view of things.
