Sunday's message from Seacoast Church in Ballina. Pastor Rick Cloherty - "Faith in Finances" - 30 August 2026

And today I'm preaching about probably one of the topics that preachers or pastors don't preach on, and that's finances.

But I want to preach out of a story in Nehemiah where there was a powerful story about a festival, a festival of booths, where they actually had a realization that they weren't following the law and they read the law.

And through this festival of booths, which I'll go into in a little bit, they actually remembered that, oh, my gosh, we're actually supposed to live in a booth as such for seven days to remind ourselves of the goodness of God and what he's done through the Israel people in the wilderness, that he brought them from a place of living for 40 years under the stars, that he gave them manna, he gave them water out of rocks.

So therefore, the festival of booths is a festival that they used to celebrate to remind themselves, like Cody said, of the previous testimonies of generations upon generations upon generations.

And this whole book is just an encouragement, a life encouragement of how we can get back to just walking and dwelling with the Lord in the Garden of Eden.

The perichoresis, the beautiful dance of the Father, Son, and the Spirit and humanity, dwelling with each other, dwelling with Jesus in the Garden.
