Rose PreviteGuestSteve PalmerHostLet me ask you, during that time, knowing there wasn't much of a scene, I've heard a lot of friends, chefs, females, talk, you know, the industry historically being a male-dominated business.
You're in a city that you said it's either we're either eating fried chicken or we're going to the steakhouses on Capitol Hill.
Did you have a sense that you were doing something that was not a lot of women were doing? Pioneering, groundbreaking, like that you were bucking the norm.

I was a general contractor for my first project because I couldn't afford one.

And you feel... from everyone that their belief in you is definitely, the implicit bias is there, right? Like I had a lot of men just tap me, you know, the equivalent of tapping me on the head and being like, oh, you wanna open a restaurant.

You know, so I got that, you know, and I did, and God bless, you know, rest his soul in peace.

But, you know, the only two books I read was Kitchen Confidential and Blood, Bones, Butter by Gabrielle Hamilton.
