Episode 21: David Marino, Senior Executive Managing Director, Hughes Marino

Yeah, thanks, Jeff.

So I came to San Diego 37 years ago after finishing business school up in Los Angeles.

Originally to get into real estate development, but quickly pivoted with my partner, Jason Hughes, to doing what we call tenant representation since 1991.

And Hughes & Marino has grown to become a national company.

We have 13 offices around the United States, a couple hundred employees.

And in all of our offices do the same thing, which is we represent corporate America primarily with their leases around renewals, expansions, relocations, new sites, subleasing, and occasionally building purchases.

So it's been a journey growing this company from being headquartered here in San Diego and really just – being entrepreneurs and having one office to now becoming a truly national firm, which a lot of viewers probably don't know about us.

And we continue to expand, looking to open an office each year around the company and around the country.

And all of these are owned by us.

These are not franchises.

We're not buying other companies.

We are also a women-owned business.

A lot of people don't know we're 51% owned by women co-founders of the firm, including Shea Hughes, who's our president and chief operating officer.

We're very proud of that and really are a family business, you know, homegrown here in San Diego.

That's awesome.
