Sorry, I almost dropped my phone.

And it was just always a very competitive environment from the time we were playing flag football right there at the South Bay Rec Center and playing basketball, flag football, you name it, soccer from AYSO to the Boys and Girls Club right there in Imperial Beach.

So it was very much a great time to be a kid growing up in the 80s, 90s there in San Diego.

And I hear your interest in sports broadcasting began in the sixth grade.

You know, growing up, they tell you, be realistic, you know, what's within your reach.

And my parents were very hard workers, two, three jobs.

You know, my dad was an architect right there, South Bay General, then it became Scripps.

And my dad was as hardworking as it gets for 30 plus years, my mom as well.

Okay, if I was to lie, I would say you opened up another North County location, but I hope you opened a location in South Basin.

That is where most of our callers call from, from Chula Vista and the South Bay community.

Yeah, we get a lot of callers from El Cajon.

True, true.

The mission of the Living Coast Discovery Center is to inspire our community to connect with and care for our coastal environments.

Surprisingly, you've only been here a year, but we have folks who have been in San Diego, even in South Bay San Diego, for their entire lives and may not know that we're out there.

So we're still a little bit of a hidden gem, even though we've been around since 1987.

We were previously part of the city of Chula Vista before becoming a nonprofit, and so we're now almost in our 40th year.

We like to shout things out.

So, James, I got to tell you, one of the coolest events I've gone to, and I used to go to, I haven't gone to it in a while, is the Farm to Bay.

Talk about that.

um those two were without alcohol um so our third location was in del mar you know via de la valle next to the del mar fair yeah yeah yeah so that one was our biggest location i believe it's 2500 square feet now we have a bar it's a you know liquor you know so um you can never go wrong with a taco and a beer a beer yeah i mean so um that was our third one our fourth one is the karma valley and our fifth one is here in la jolla uh here in la jolla um next to taco stand why you don't bring it to

Out of all the stories, we've got a lot of news to get into today, including the latest county survey about South Bay sewage.

This is getting almost as deja vu-like as Trump's saying about Iran.

We're considering heavier escalation.

It's like, I'm getting, okay.

We know it stinks in the South Bay.

We get that.

It's been going on for decades.

Right.

No, I, I really appreciate you being here.

And so when I really started to get more and more involved in the fire service, this isn't just a saying like, "Oh, we're family." No, we actually take care of each other like we're family.

And then we started to really kinda get in the fights at Chula Vista, so I really reflected back to my time coming into the union and how they treated me.

And so in, in the South Bay, we have Battalion 8, 29s, 36s, and then on the south end of Chula, you have Engine 55, where I spent most of my time as a young firefighter.

I would kinda be shocked that we'd be at a commercial fire on Main, Truck 29 would pull in, 30s would pull in, and they'd jump off with four firefighters.

Two years on the block is a big deal, bro, especially when you're a transplant in name.

I know we've talked before and you have a lineage and connects down here to the South Bay in San Diego.

But as a business, you guys are Not from here.

And that already makes it very difficult.

I'm here Thursdays and Fridays behind the bar, actually serving and looking at what people drink.

can confirm as soon as one of our ipas is off the board when's killed the board coming back when's where's needle in the hay right where's this but it's we slowly start introducing the community into like a new style of beer for us uh our west coast pilsner la crispy as soon as people start to taste like hey we want this one now like we want more of this we want more of this and i feel it's like not necessarily that people in the south bay will devour all of the ipas it's more so that's kind of what they're used to and they just haven't really experienced what other beer styles there is bro you know
