The Reds Kept the Hitting Coach

Let's just take a look at the history of hitting coaches in Cincinnati.

It's been a bit of a revolving door, which is not anything new for a lot of us.

Chris Vileka, he's been here since 2025.

He came with Terry Francona, and we've got a bunch of guys before that.

Yeah.

Brooke Jacob, Jacoby was here for seven seasons.

And that was, that was the, um, the longest tenure that we've had, uh, since, since 2013.

And that was when the Reds were really competitive and, um, made the playoffs a couple of seasons in a row.

And we thought maybe it could go pretty deep, but of course, you know, didn't win one series, but that's okay.

Um, because we signed Joey Votto and, uh, you know, it's not okay.

I'm just, uh, I'm coping.

But yeah, so Chris Vileka is back.

Let's take a look at Chris Vileka's record.

Chris Vileka as the hitting coach, as the primary hitting coach, he began with Terry Francona in 2022.

And the team, the Cleveland Guardians, I'm not sure when they became the Guardians.

Maybe it was the Indians at that point.

But the Guardians in 2022 were 15th in runs scored the following season.

So his first year, I mean, you could really make the argument.

Your first year, you're acquiring a lot of guys.

You're acquiring a lot of their existing tendencies and everything else.

But after he's been there for a full season, they were ranked 27th in 2023.

2024, they were ranked 14th.

14th again in 25 with the Cincinnati Reds.

And this year, scoring 666 runs, which is...

Not a good omen, but they were ranked 27th for runs scored.
