In the Gospels, Jesus refers to the unforgivable sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Ralph brings important clarity to the reality of such a sin and how to avoid it.

Well, today I'm going to talk about a topic, a phrase that most people heard about, the unforgivable sin against the Holy Spirit.

So, is there such an unforgivable sin? What is it? I want to start off by saying that if you're concerned about whether you've committed the unforgivable sin, you haven't, because one of the signs of having committed the unforgivable sin is to be totally unconcerned about whether you've committed it or not, because you've hardened your heart to the convicting work of the Holy Spirit.

He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.

Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.

But whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

Jesus says, whoever says a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

But those who actually have been given evidence of who he is, both external evidence in what they see the Lord doing and internal evidence in what the Holy Spirit's doing in their soul to give them faith and the desire to repent, they will not be forgiven because they're closing themselves off from the pathway to forgiveness.

Truly I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin.

And I tell you, everyone who acknowledges me before men, the Son of Man also will acknowledge before the angels of God.

Everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven." And when they bring you before the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not be anxious how or what you are to answer or what you are to say, for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.
