Jun 17, 2026 · 51 min · 16 segments
We'll get back to regularly scheduled RTGs next week, but I'm away crushing beers an checking baseball players today, so here's a free previously Patreon exclusive episode of Expansion Pass for you to…
[video game sound] Let's talk about some tough games, right? That's why you're here.
I, I think a lot of you are gonna recognize this song, but this is not a game that made my top 10.
[upbeat music] And when it stops, I'll count down the 10 toughest games that I've ever played.
That music's so nice, but it also gives me flashbacks to playing The Lion King, and I can just feel angry at him.
Like The Incredible Hulk, like when Bruce Banner's turning green and he's trying to stop it, that's what that music fucking does to me.
I had about 30 games on my list of my toughest games I've ever played, and then I was trying to figure out, like, do I sort them by what I personally find tough, or what the general consensus is as far as to how tough they are? Uh, I decided this is my podcast, so we're gonna go with the games that I personally struggle with the most and found to be the 10 toughest that I have played in my gaming career.
They're tough games, no question, and I know some people would argue that some of those games are tougher than some of the ones on my list, but they don't personally give me nearly as much trouble as the games that made my final top 10 are.
So that's one aspect of this show, is I'm a l- I, I'm going by the games that give me the most trouble.
Number two, and probably more controversially, I've, I decided to eliminate roguelikes and road likes from my list, because the gimmick with those game is you're supposed to die over and over again while you grind.
If you've played a lot of roguelikes, road likes, uh, you know what I'm talking about.
So games like Slay the Spire, Hades, Dead Cells, Darkest Dungeon, I left those off my list as well.
