It opens sad, continues sad, and does not give you a second in the story to become comfortable even a little bit it's a definitely a story about grief and loss and trying to move on in the face of insurmountable hope and sadness uh it currently my game of the year we'll see if i play anything that i enjoy better um currently on chapter three and almost done it i will check back in with everybody here in the start of one of these once i finish clear obscure expedition 33 and it's also a hard game to talk about without spoiling it every single narrative beat i would say is spoilers um and maybe people consider some of the combat sections also spoilers um so that makes it a little bit tough i could do a standalone video maybe on clear obscure expedition 33 maybe like a youtube video with all my thoughts maybe a better place to kind of house that than than at the start of a podcast where you say a lot of spoilers so we'll move on along with that i want to start doom the dark ages i think that'll be really fun i've seen some mixed reviews but overall i think people are really enjoying it and i think people who aren't are just kind of skeptical and not interested in playing anything that isn't doom eternal or doom 2016 seems to be the case in a lot of places there is genuine criticism of course but that seems to be the majority of rough time people are having so i don't think that'll be too big of an issue for me i'm not totally tied to those titles too deeply i did enjoy both but i'm excited to see what they continue on with the doom stuff all right i think that's enough new games for a while here let's get back to the old stuff that we're all really here for our first game boy advance game of the day is konami crazy racers starting off strong here Konami Crazy Racers, released June 11th, 2001 in North America, exclusively for the Game Boy Advance.

It was both published and developed by Konami, who of course you may know from Silent Hill, Metal Gear, Castlevania, Contra, Frogger, a lot of arcade games, and also for just no longer releasing games.
Owen RobarHOST
8:54
They're just kind of done with that.
Owen RobarHOST
8:56
They don't really do it anymore.
CorporalHOST
34:25
That's the only TV time we have during a guy's weekend next year.
CorporalHOST
34:29
It's just bank playing Contra.
Banky JarvisHOST
34:34
I'm looking up to see if there's a Contra collection.
CorporalHOST
34:37
Oh, there is.
CorporalHOST
34:38
There has to be.
Banky JarvisHOST
35:48
so there is a
SarcastroHOST
35:49
collection you gotta figure out the routes well i remember wasn't it it was a coin up game wasn't it an arcade game first and then it got oh yeah because it used to gobble quarters like crazy in an arcade
Banky JarvisHOST
36:04
All right, so Konami has a Contra Anniversary Collection that came out in 2019 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Cody HoffmanHOST
191:27
Um, I take it back.
Cody HoffmanHOST
191:27
You, you get infinite continues, but it's kind of a typical running gun like Contra where if you lose your life, you go back to the beginning of the last checkpoint,
Eric NelsonHOST
191:37
which is either
Cody HoffmanHOST
191:37
the beginning of the level or halfway through the level.

10 MINS LATER

Cody HoffmanHOST
201:09
Running guns are a genre where a true good running gun is one of my favorite things, but there's not that many of them.
speaker_1UNKNOWN
201:20
That's true.
Cody HoffmanHOST
201:21
So just as an aside, for example, Contra, Super C, which is the second Contra, Super Contra.
Cody HoffmanHOST
201:37
I feel like I'm missing another Contra.
John RiggsHOST
19:37
It plays a lot like a Metal Slug or, you know, like Metal Slug, but not as slow-moving.
John RiggsHOST
19:43
So it's a little bit more like a Contra, maybe like a Turrican or something like that.
John RiggsHOST
19:48
But Cyborg Force for the Sega Dreamcast.
John RiggsHOST
19:50
And they were doing a little special, like, pre-order thing.
Tony GilesHOST
60:13
It kind of ties back to something you said earlier.
Tony GilesHOST
60:15
Probotector on the Game Boy.
Tony GilesHOST
60:17
Oh, there you go.
Tony GilesHOST
60:19
Which is essentially just Contra on the Game Boy.
Tony GilesHOST
60:21
Yeah, I have a lot of Game Boy games.
Tony GilesHOST
60:24
I am very much a Game Boy guy.
Tony GilesHOST
60:26
But yes, Probotector on the Game Boy.
Tony GilesHOST
60:28
I would highly recommend this.
Stoy JovicHOST
75:42
So I've got two vinyls.
Stoy JovicHOST
75:45
Contra Hardcore for the Sega Genesis, which it's kind of interesting sitting back and just like, I want to listen to some vinyls.
Stoy JovicHOST
75:53
And you pull out a soundtrack from a Sega Genesis game.
Stoy JovicHOST
75:57
Like, it's just kind of weird to me.
Stoy JovicHOST
76:00
Pulling in my vinyl and just, like, Sega Genesis music spinning.
Stoy JovicHOST
76:03
It's, like, really kind of weird to me.
Stoy JovicHOST
76:05
But still, like, honestly, Contra...
Stoy JovicHOST
76:08
Hardcore, I think it's one of my favorite Contra games, so I was, like, really grateful.
CoryHOST
8:05
But I think I've seen clips of Metal Slug.
CoryHOST
8:09
It's kind of like Contra, right?
Sandeep RaiHOST
8:10
Yeah,
CoryHOST
8:11
yeah, basically,
