EP.332/What's Something Older Generations Got Right?

So as you can tell from the episode's title, what something older generations got, got, uh, got right that we've quietly stopped doing to our own detriment? This is, like, a long title.

I don't-- I, I feel like I'm not, it's not gonna look like that on the episode's title.

[laughs] I feel like even people who phrase these questions on Reddit are just, like, trying to just up the word count.

Like, it's like h- this is the-- I feel like this could just be cut down by, like, half the words.

Like, [laughs] like, what's something that older generations got right that we don't, that we stopped doing? Like, that's, that's pretty much it.

We don't need all the extra letters in there, the words.

You know, this isn't, this isn't, uh, this isn't a university high school English class, you know? You don't, you're not trying to hit the word count.

"Joining clubs and participating in civic clubs, social clubs, and hobby clubs, and other similar groups." I feel like I'm trying to get back into this.

Although, although a civic club, what is a civic club? Like, what is the-- What do you do in the civic civic club? Like, is that where you just get around and talk about just, like, fucking, uh, and just complain about shit? Like, you're not on the city fucking council.

Like, you're not making decisions.

Like, you're just getting t-together to just say that this fucking sucks.

[laughs] I'm swearing a lot today in this, uh, episode.

I don't normally curse as much as I am right now, but I just-- Sometimes you just need it for emphasis, you know what I mean? It's like, you guys are just gonna sit around and complain? Like, is this-- I feel like this is why old people are around.

Like, don't get me wrong, I think civic or just joining social clubs and, and clubs in general are important, you know? I do see the value in that.

But a civic club is just kinda like, "There's way too many potholes." "I agree." And that's it.

[laughs] Like, it's just the, the conversation's over there.

It's just like, "Yeah, this, this town sucks, man.

There's way too much construction." "I agree.

It's-- I can't, I can't go anywhere without there being lanes cut off and traffic increasing every day." That's it.

[laughs] That's just the end of the conversation.

What are a-- What are what-- What do-- Or what is a civic club? Okay.

Okay, no, no. "A civic club is a local volunteer-driven group formed to address public concerns and improve a neighborhood's quality of life." Yeah, so it's literally just a club for complaining.

[laughs] Local-- I guess they run local recreation programs, maintain community centers, and provide residents with a collective voice to the municipal government.

I mean, honestly, I mean, other than the, the running recuma- recreation programs and maintaining community centers and stuff, it sounds like it's just a club for just old people to just complain about shit.
