But I had wanted to write a novel or a series of cozy mysteries that centered around a walking tours group that used that as kind of cover for investigating crime.

I just I had some false starts and I just filed away like it wasn't coming together.

And I sort of second guessed myself and thought, who wants to read about people walking? Whereas if you're actually listening to people walking and talking and you get the soundscape and everything, And you can jump cut ahead easily to different scenes.

And my husband and I had had a dinner guest shortly before I had that initial spark who leads kind of off the beaten path walking tours like Theo does in the story.

And my husband is also a certified town walking tour docent, although he hasn't publicly advertised he will do private tours in our historic small town.

So I'm like a background, you know, a little fly on the wall with some of the walking tour stuff.

I'm the creator and writer of Rambling Roads Mysteries, a new full cast audio drama, which is set in the fictional New England town of Turner's Grove.

The story follows Evelyn Carlyle, a former journalist and a dog walker, who is rebuilding her life in this quirky small town.

And when her path crosses with an enterprising walking tour guide, she soon finds herself uncovering ecological mysteries and community secrets.

Along the way, she becomes part of rambling roads, walking tours, And every trail seems to lead to another mystery.

Today, I am joined by my friend, collaborator, and partner in crime, Nora Shalloway Carpenter.

Nora is our production manager, and she is the voice of our lead character, Evelyn Carlisle, and this is Murphy the dog, who is sadly not in this production, but maybe in season two.

I wanted to record this conversation with you, Nora, just as a kind of behind the scenes glimpse of our respective pathways into Rambling Roads Mysteries.
