It was such a joy to talk to Lauren Bulla - poet, writer, event organiser etc. We chat about poetry, how similar creativity and connection can be and a gorgeous meander around so many tangents…
Lauren BullaGuestKimHostI was, um, I heard about a concept of time that is more about, like, time is created by events.
Either you're creating time by doing something, like we're creating time right now, or you're waiting for time to arrive to do the event.
That's interesting.
Yeah.

Yeah, I mean, it kind of ties in with something that I feel like I'm always saying, especially in moments of anxiety or stress.

Because if you're doing something new for the first time, like, I always get bouts of, like,
ooh.

like even though i've done a million things maybe similar it's not the exact same thing so yeah i get a bit anxious and i always lean on the fact that like it will end which i think we've talked about this before
but it

will be over it will be over which is like for some friends i've said this to it scares the out of them because they're like what do you mean it's going to be over like that's giving me more anxiety yeah but for me i'm like no no no if i have to get on a stage that i'm scared to get on a stage for whatever reason then I'm going to have to get off the stage so I can bank on the fact that even if everything crashes and burns, I'm going to get off the fucking stage, which is for me very comforting.

And it's kind of like, oh, well, like, wouldn't I have rather tried the thing that scares me and it be over than it be over anyway and have not tried? Yeah.
Like the time is passing anyway.

I was in my friend Honey's house and like we were just chatting between me, her and her now ex, just discussing like the creative industry and like moving with your practice and something that they were talking about was very much like The energy is being spent whether you make something with it or not.

So sitting there and wondering what if, what if, what if is the expended energy you could have used to try the thing that you're thinking what if about.
Yeah.
Yeah.
A lot of energy is going into the abyss right now.
Yeah.
and relatable as hell.
