They're carrying it somewhere, towards something, for a purpose the eruption of Santorini would bury, along with their entire civilization, before anyone wrote it down.

The fresco that preserved them was sealed under volcanic ash for thirty-six hundred years.

When archeologists uncovered it at Akrotiri, they found women in perfect procession carrying plants with unmistakable intentionality.

This is where the episode begins, not with a text, not with a philosopher, not with a laboratory, but with women carrying plants toward a ritual we have no record of, because this is how old this story is.
