Jiang XueqinGuestAlexander MercourisHostAlex ChristoforouHostWhat is the risk that nuclear weapons could be used in these kind of scenarios? Because this is the fundamental difference between our situation today-
So Athens might be going down, but it didn't have the option of using nuclear weapons.

Um, first of all, that's, it's ultimate taboo, right? I mean, whoever uses nuclear weapons will be a pariah state for all of eternity, right? Uh, and it doesn't matter who it is.

If it's, America use, uses it, then the entire world will turn against America, and America will be held in contempt for all of eternity.

The second thing is that, um, we have to remember that even though these nation-states are at war, they still have a lot of back channels.

So remember, like even during the Peloponnesian War, Sparta and Athens, um, their elite were very close.

So even though Russia and the United States are at war with each other, they still have a lot of, uh, backdoor, uh, ch- channel communications.

Remember, um, what people don't recognize is that Putin and Trump are very good friends, and we know that from the, the meeting in Alaska in, in Anchorage.

Um, if you just look at their body language, if you just look at, um, their demeanor, their language, they're, they're very close.

I do not think it's a factor in, in, uh, in what will happen, um, over the next 10 years.
