We are sports supporters here at the Ventura County Star coming to you live Wednesday, September 9th, a very, very hot afternoon.

It's like 95 degrees here in Ventura on the water and I'm huddled in my office right now trying to escape the heat.

About as hot as it gets in Ventura.

I know that.

This was not the breezy, cool ocean seaside community that was advertised to me, Joe.

Not today, it's not.

not to jump too far ahead, but the game that I covered at Oxnard High this week, everybody was making flag football coach Oxnard flag football coach Mark Cordes was joking to me that I should know better.

Having been here for two years now, I'm shivering next to him on the sidelines like,

why did I do this?

So evidently I have not learned.

My two years here have not taught me everything that I need to know.

But Joe, we have an exciting show here.
