Fuel prices in Ghana are set to ease slightly from 1st May 2026, with the National Petroleum Authority announcing lower price floors for petrol and a more significant reduction for diesel in its latest pricing window.
A pricing notice dated April 28, the National Petroleum Authority said the adjustment forms part of its bi-monthly review mechanism covering May 1 to May 15, reflecting shifting global crude prices and exchange rate movements, and that a new rate Petrol has been set at a minimum price of 13 cds 25 PS per litre, while diesel stands at 14 cds 30 PS per litre.
Liquified petroleum gas is priced at 13 cds per kilogram, with kerosene and marine gas oil set at 16 cds 13 PS and 15 cds 41 PS respectively.
Compared to the previous pricing window in mid-April, Petrol has seen a marginal reduction of 2 pcs, while diesel has dropped significantly by 1 cd 80 pcs per litre.
While it is unclear whether subsidies recently introduced by the government will continue into the new pricing window or be adjusted ahead of the media fiscal review, the NPA continues to remind oil and LPG marketing companies to comply with the new price floor recommendations.

We shall have a conversation on the back of that, but I've got to tell you this.

The African Centre for Energy Policy, ASEP, is demanding that grid core and power system operators immediately publish a reliable load-sharing timetable and provide a realistic timeline for restoring full power supply.
These demands stem from a deepening national crisis where Ghanaian households and businesses have endured over a month of escalating outages, which ASEP describes as a failure of customer service and institutional responsibility.
Aside demands for the immediate publication of a load-shedding timetable, ASEP is calling for an independent investigation by the PURC with full public disclosure of all findings regarding the massive fire outbreak at the akosumbo substation alongside ongoing gas supply constraints and a backlog of deferred maintenance works the statement notes that the crisis is not just about technical upgrades but reflects deeper systemic failures asa feather argues that these measures are essential because previous official explanations were found to be inaccurate and citizens deserve the basic courtesy of being able to plan their daily lives.
