Music To solve problems that present themselves on a very large scale, it's generally a good idea to approach them from many different angles and at multiple levels.

Right now our species faces some pretty big problems and most of them are created by ourselves.

We're polluting the planet with a vast array of chemicals and a huge and increasing volume of plastic debris.

We're filling the atmosphere with greenhouse gases that are causing the planetary temperatures to rise and disturb and disrupt all forms of life, as well as generating extreme weather events that often carry astonishing destructive power.

We are killing off plants and animals at such a rate that many call it the sixth mass extinction.

And in many parts of the world, some of us are engaged in aggressive, violent, and even genocidal actions against our fellow humans, to say nothing of visiting profound harms on a vast array of other life forms.

With all this as a backdrop, solutions in today's turbulent times are not going to come readily or quickly.

They will come into being only if we apply ourselves with determination to the role of problem solving with sustained and continuous effort over decades while adapting and reconfiguring our involvement and actions as new understanding or information comes to light.

In other words, if we're going to get out of the mess we're in, we're faced with a long slog.

one that will last longer than any one lifetime and require the commitment of multiple generations.

It also requires well-informed people with open and developed minds, good social skills, and a stubborn commitment to make the world a better place for all.
