Voluntary Service Overseas

And so that way of life was something ingrained already by then.

So when I left high school, before I went to university, I joined VSO, Voluntary Service Overseas, like the American Peace Corps.

taught for a year and a half in Thailand, came back to university in Britain, Then went to Hong Kong, where my father by that stage was working.

Worked as a journalist there for a while, and then went to Nepal, actually on holiday.
