I've been listening a lot these days, uh, to, um, talks around mindfulness as a way, by the way, to deal with trauma and to, uh, expand our window of tolerance so that we can function, you know, more fully in a difficult world.

And one of the key skills that r- that's required to live g- in the present mindfully, to be here 100%, is to listen and watch and observe and feel without judgment.

For one thing, I have kinda this toggle filter in my brain that imagines that something is either good or bad.

I, I, I can remember, uh, my kids asking me the question, "Is that a good guy or a bad guy?" Right?

Or I'm in a spot, and the, and my, my inner judge wants to make this a good thing or a bad thing, rather than suspend judgment for the moment and just be in the thing.

Or if I decide it by, by eight o'clock in the morning, ugh, man, this is a bad day.

Or I have in the past been pretty good at making snap judgments about people, especially if they step on my toes.

And now rather than experience anything subsequent that might happen with them, any interaction without that filter, I impose that filter on the relationship.
