Episode 36

So, I'm asking, how are you photographing the eclipse? Do you have to do anything special with the cameras and the sensors? Yeah.

I mean, this is going out afterwards.

I know I was

going to learn from it, but anyway, it'd be interesting.

So, I went out and photographed the eclipse in Texas a few years ago.

And basically you need a filter over your lens, otherwise it'll just destroy everything.

What

sort

of...

And...

It's basically solar-specific... film that you kind of diy into your own filter um if you just google solar photography you'll see this film come on and you cut it into a loose circle um i improvised it using a lot of cardboard and sellotape and into a tube that just kind of goes over the long lens and Um, it involves a lot of patience and taking a lot of photos and you don't really realize how much the earth tremors.

Um, particularly Texas, there's a lot of natural movement.

So yeah, it's a lot of that.

Um, but this time I'm going to be shooting on red scale film.

So just reversing the film.

Um, because I'm trying to get a particular effect and I want the viewer to feel something.

And I think this kind of red, orange, yellow look, it really helps get this feeling of sun across to the viewer.

So that's the plan.

Yeah, because I'm curious.

That's great.

I'm actually going to be on an airplane through the point of max coverage.

So I'm wondering if I can just stick my phone out the window, pull the blind down or something.

So I'm going to do a bit of research, see what I can do.

But that's why I was also asking about filters.

Please don't put it out the window.
