Yeah, I mean, like, yeah, it's like, travelling's calm, 20 minutes, and then you kind of go, rah, South London's a bit different, but, do you know what I mean? How is it different? Just because of, like, the kind of culture there, like, I mean, most men haven't been South London in their life before.

I used to get a bat so I used to be everywhere but even then you're in school and it's like they'll say areas and I'm like do you know where Aylesbury is and I'm like what these times I was around the corner from Peckham and all of this and that but you don't know nothing so you just learn and whatever but yeah school was calm it was hilarious in school still

I was born in King's College in Camberwell.

So our first flat was in Peckham, but I don't remember there.

I was too young.

Then we moved to Charlton.

So it was a massive cultural shock coming here.

Obviously the weather, et cetera, et cetera.

But when you went to places, you moved to places like Peckham, Brixton, the South places, there were a lot of people in the same scenario.

so my mum ended up gaining friends with loads of people like this African lady from there so I've got like loads of cousins and stuff that I've known since I was born but they're not really my cousins they're just people who were in the same circumstance as my family

There's a good night going on there.

Some decent little lineup going on.

She established the Bermondsey Art Trail, which is a sort of weekend of open studios actually taking place this Friday and Saturday.

And, you know, yes, her artists are not in major biennials, her artists are not lighting up evening sales, but she moved to South London, I think, about three years into spanning this gallery to be around this concentration of artist studios in South Bermondsey and Peckham and, you know, to that local scene she is very important.

Not every gallery in London can or should be a Gagosian or even an Emelyn.

You know, you have to have spaces at all levels, and London is only rich if you can have art spaces at every level of the ecosystem.
